This past Saturday I attended the Masque of Courtly Love, R.U.M. in Ohio. The event was well attended and offered an abundance of classes. With Their Royal Majesties and Their Royal Highnesses in attendance, along with the Royal University of the Midrealm in session, the event site was a bit cramped. I had arrived about an hour after the site opened; finding parking was pure madness. I feel sorry for those that arrived any later in the day.
The highlight of my day was during court. I played a small, quiet role in some of the proceedings. My colleague, Kuji Bōzu, had dealings with the “Dread Lord.” It seems that Kuji Bōzu's ancestors had dealings with His Majesties' ancestors. Kuji's family was responsible for the safe-keeping of some of His Majesties' family treasures, which he wished to return to His Majesty that day. It was my duty to present His Majesty with the return of his family's treasures. Unfortunately there was a slight problem with His Majesty accepting the return of his family's treasures. There had been a spell placed on the box which the treasure was in, which only could be opened by a valiant and noble lord. I am still unsure as to why His Majesty seemed to hesitate upon accepting the box's return. But he was most gracious in deciding to give the treasures to those who had won the variety of tournaments that day. In fact, he had requested their presence before him and had these noble individuals open the box. I must say that His Majesties' graciousness was out-shined by Her Majesty. She had come to the conclusion that these treasures had lost some of their value, and felt it was only right to give these noble champions more gifts along with the box of treasure. It may be in His Majesties' best interest to visit his doctor, because he began to look rather ill as Her Majesty gave out further gifts to the days' champions.
