My Second Scroll
A friend of mine once said that O.C.D can be a superpower. Some days it can be absolute hell. But with all the craft projects I'm working on, it has been useful and quietly focused on something productive. I finished my second scroll blank yesterday evening. This one is based off of an existing scroll, which I've included. I was not happy with my first scroll, due to the paint that I was working with. I didn't want to invest in more supplies until I tested what I currently had. I used acrylic paints for the first scroll. The problem with the acrylic is some of the colors were too translucent and showed the pencil sketch. I had to apply several layers in order for the pencil not to show, so it’s a bit thick on the page. I picked up some gouache to play with on the second scroll. I am much happier with the results. I didn’t have to use several layers of paint, which is good because the gouache is not cheap. The only color that showed any of the pencil sketches was the red, but it only lightly showed. Overall, I’ll stick with the gouache.
